Apple is rolling out a new iOS update which brings a fix for the annoying iPhone 8 crackling earpiece issue. This issue was first reported about a week ago. Many iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus users were irked by the crackling sound in the earpiece during phone calls. Apple looked into the issue and has now released a fix for it.

The company hasn’t really clarified what was the cause of this issue. However, given that it has been fixed via an iOS update, it was most certainly a software bug.

It never felt like a hardware issue to begin with. Those who faced this issue also mentioned that the earpiece was working fine in most circumstances. The crackling sound was occasionally heard during phone calls. It was a faint noise but one that couldn’t go unnoticed.

When Apple confirmed the issue last week, it said that only a small number of iPhone 8 users had experienced the problem. The company also confirmed then that it was working on a fix.

The company has rolled out iOS 11.0.2 today. The latest firmware update brings the fix for the iPhone 8 crackling earpiece issue. Other minor bugs have been fixed as well, such as one that could cause some photos to become hidden.
