One of the benefits of our modern smartphones is that they come with GPS sensors in them, allowing our devices to pinpoint our location which comes in handy when using maps. This feature is also taken advantage of by apps like instant messengers that allow users to share their location with each other.

In fact some apps even allowed users to share their live locations (like Facebook Messenger) where you could, in real-time, follow that user’s location. If you’re a Telegram user who thinks that such a feature would be handy, you’ll be pleased to learn that Telegram has announced an update to its app in which the feature is being added.

The company writes, “Starting with Telegram 4.4, you can broadcast your current location to any chat in real time. This is useful when you are on your way to an appointment or are trying to coordinate with friends at a large event. Instead of sending static locations on the map every minute, you can now share your Live Location with the people you’re meeting – for 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 8 hours.”

In addition to the live location feature, the update will also see a redesign of the in-app media player, as well as additional support for more languages. The update should be live so head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play for the download.
