Wells Fargo today announced that its debit card customers can now use its more than 5,000 ATMs across the country without actually having their card on them. That’s because the company’s ATMs now have support for leading tap and pay mobile payment services such as Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay. This NFC functionality will be offered on over 5,000 ATMs in the United States.

The user first has to launch their preferred payment service and select the appropriate debit card. They then hold their phone or wearable device near an NFC-enabled ATM terminal and enter their PIN. This is all they need to complete the transaction. This feature has support for Wells Fargo Wallet for Android, Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay.

Wells Fargo customers can already use the bank’s ATMs without having a physical card. All they need to do is generate a one-time access code through the bank’s app. This feature was launched in March this year.

Wells Fargo is aiming to bring the NFC-enabled functionality to more than 13,000 ATMs across the country by 2019. It will be upgrading the rest of the machines by then. ATMs that are enabled for this feature will have a contactless symbol decal on the front.
