Xiaomi is one of the most popular smartphone vendors in the world and its popularity continues to grow. The company may not be a household name in the West as yet but it’s already established a solid footing for itself in lucrative markets like China and India. Sales have been increasing so much so that the company recently made history.

It has made a new internal record of shipping an impressive number of smartphones in a single month. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun revealed that the company shipped 10 million smartphone units in the month of September.

That’s something that Xiaomi hasn’t done before. It has never shipped over 10 million handsets in a single month. It’s impressive, to say the least. Lei Jun also added that one in ten of these handsets were sold in India over the course of two days. The Redmi Note 4 happened to be the best-performing handset of its lot.

Xiaomi has been looking to further boost sales after it dropped to 58 million annual units last year compared to 70 million units in the year before that. The company will certainly be aiming for a new total record by the end of this year. Let’s see if it manages to get there or not.
