Adobe Scan Updated With Automatic Document Detection

Earlier this year Adobe introduced an app called Scan, which for the most part does what quite a few apps do, which is that it lets users “scan” documents using their phones and turns them into editable files (PDFs in this case). However what if you were taking photos of your receipts and documents before you downloaded the app?

Does that mean you’ll have to backtrace every single document you’ve taken and convert them manually? The good news is that the latest update to Adobe Scan will save you that hassle. The company has announced an update to the app that leverages AI to help scan through your photos to find images of documents and imports them into the Adobe Scan app.

According to Adobe, “With the flick of a switch, Adobe Sensei – our artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technology – analyzes all of the photos in your camera roll and surfaces only the ones that appear to be documents. There’s no longer a need to sift through hundreds or even thousands of images to find what you’re looking for.”

In addition, Adobe has updated the app with support for iOS 11’s Files app, which means that the files scanned/stored by the app can be accessed through Files which should make management easier. The update is now live for both iOS and Android, so head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play if you haven’t updated already.
