Several of Amazon’s partners have updated their apps today to add support for Alexa. This means that the company’s digital assistant can now be used to control Hulu, PlayStation Vue, and CBS All Access playback. Some other services have received support for this as well today. Users don’t have to fumble around with the remote anymore to control these services.

The Alexa Voice Remote, an Amazon Echo device, and even the Fire TV remote app can now be used to play, pause, rewind, fast-word, and search through content from Hulu, PlayStation Vue, CBS All Access, Bravo, NBC, and Showtime on Fire TV. It’s even possible to change the channel within the app.

For example, those who are subscribed to Hulu’s live streaming service can simply say “Alexa, go to ESPN,” and they will automatically be taken to the ESPN channel inside the Hulu app.

Same goes for other commands. Say “Alexa, rewind 10 minutes” and it will do just that. Say “Alexa, pause,” and by now you know what it’s going to do.

This is going to make watching your favorite content even easier. It’s particularly great for when we’re all feeling so lazy and don’t even want to get up from the couch to get the remote.
