Apple’s Magic Keyboard has more or less kept to the same design and features over the years. Then again, it is just a keyboard and there’s really only so many things one can improve on it, but for the most part it seems that Apple is happy with the way things are right now. However could a new model be in the works?

According to a recent observation by AppleInsider, it seems that customers who try to order the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad are facing shipping delays as long as 4-5 weeks. This is highly unusual given that we wouldn’t exactly call these keyboards a product that’s in high demand. The publication checked this against multiple Apple Online Stores around the world including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Sweden, Mexico, and Japan just to name a few, and found the same 4-5 week shipping estimate.

Note that this only seems to have affected the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad model, and that the Magic Keyboard sans numeric keypad isn’t facing the same shipping delays. This has led to speculation that maybe a new model could be in the works. However AppleInsider notes that at WWDC 2017 earlier this year, Apple introduced a wireless model of the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, so for them to launch a new model so quickly does seem strange.

In any case it is possible that there could simply be some production issues that occurred suddenly that is causing the delay, or maybe a glitch in the system, but either way we’ll keep an eye out for more details.
