Apple has been investing in original content and the company has now ordered its first scripted TV show. A revival of Steven Spielberg’s anthology series Amazing Stories has already been confirmed and according to a new report, the cast for Apple’s first scripted TV show features some major starts. Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will both be starring in this as yet untitled show.

The show is going to be a drama that’s set in the world of a network morning show, reports Variety. Apple has given a straight-to-series order for the project and the initial order is for two seasons. There will be ten episodes per season.

Aniston and Witherspoon aren’t just going to be the stars of this show, they’re also the principle owners of this show alongside Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res studio.

The show is going to draw background material from CNN senior media correspondent Brian Stelter’s book “Top of the Morning” which was released in 2013. The book talked about the rivalry between NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

What’s unclear at this point in time is how Apple is planning to distribute this show and the one it has ordered from Steven Spielberg. There has been talk of a TV streaming service from Apple but there’s nothing concrete on that front as yet. Some believe that the TV shows might be distributed through iTunes. Apple itself has said nothing about the distribution model so it remains a mystery for now.
