AT&T is rolling out a new firmware update for the Galaxy Note 8 on its network. The new software update for Samsung’s latest flagship phablet brings the latest security fixes for the Android operating system. The fixes include a patch for the Krack Wi-Fi vulnerability. It’s a widespread Wi-Fi security exploit that can enable bad actors to listen in on the traffic between Wi-Fi enabled devices and access points.
The second largest mobile carrier in the country is now rolling out software update version N950USQU2BQJA for the Galaxy Note 8 in the United States. The update comes in at just under 390MB.
Even though the Android security patch level hasn’t been bumped up from October, the software update includes fixes for both the Krack Wi-Fi and Blueborne Bluetooth-based vulnerabilities. The latter was discovered about a month ago and has since been gradually patched on most devices.
AT&T is now rolling out this firmware update for the Galaxy Note 8 over-the-air in the United States. It should only be a matter of time before the update goes live for users across all regions.
Galaxy Note 8 owners on AT&T can also try to download the update manually by heading to the Software update menu in the Settings app.
