Sometimes companies love to force certain hardware or software features onto its customers, and while we suppose there are good intentions behind such decisions, sometimes it just ends up frustrating customers instead. Such is the case with the hardware button on the Galaxy S8, S8+ and the Note 8 handsets that allow users to launch Bixby instantly.

However the good news is that in the latest update to the feature, it appears that Samsung has decided to finally allow users to disable it completely. Prior to this, even when the feature was disabled, the button still worked in the sense that pressing it would wake up the phone, which sometimes isn’t what users want, but there was no way to completely turn it off until now.

Prior to this, there were apps that were created by developers that allowed users to remap the button, meaning that users could change what the button does instead of purely launching Bixby. However Samsung was quick to block that, which like we said ended up forcing Bixby down everyone’s throat. While there’s nothing wrong with Bixby, giving users the option of choosing what they want to do with their phone is probably what many were hoping for to begin with.
