Unlike Activision who has been releasing new Call of Duty titles on an annual basis, EA seems to be releasing new Battlefield titles every two years, supplemented by DLCs and expansions in between. This is why it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that EA’s next Battlefield title could be launched in 2018.

This is according to a post on ResetEra (via JustPushStart) in which it quotes EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson as hinting that the next Battlefield title could be released next year. “The core of our fiscal 2019 is a full slate of sports titles and their associated live services, plus new live services from Star Wars Battlefront II. We will add the next Battlefield game, and move into the action genre with Anthem. We expect our subscriber base to continue to grow, and for our new mobile titles to benefit from players looking for deeper experiences with higher production values.”

It has also been pointed out that the fiscal year of 2019 runs from 1st April, 2018 until the 31st of March, 2019, which means that anytime between those dates could be when the next Battlefield title could be released. While it is possible that it could be released in 2019, like we said EA has been releasing a new title every two years, so it makes sense if it launches in 2018, not 2019. In the meantime the latest expansion for Battlefield 1: Turning Tides is set for a release this December, with the fourth and last expansion “Apocalypse” set for 2018.
