With the excitement surrounding the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X out of the way, the next phone that many are excited over is probably Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S9 (and the Galaxy S9+ by extension). Details are scarce but thanks to a recent post on Weibo (via PhoneArena) by leakster IceUniverse, additional information has surfaced.

According to the post, it has been suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S9 could come bundled with Bluetooth AKG headphones. As it stands the Galaxy S8 comes with Samsung headphones that have been “tuned by AKG”, so this rumor doesn’t seem like much of a stretch. However given that Bluetooth headsets tend to be pretty pricey, at least more so than standard wired headphones, it does seem strange that Samsung would be so generous considering it could eat into their profit margins.

This also raises the question of what will happen to the headphone jack? Does the potential inclusion of Bluetooth headphones mean that the headphone jack will be gone? The source claims that as it stands, prototypes of the phone still have the headphone jack in play. Considering that Samsung’s latest ad threw some serious shade at Apple over the headphone jack, it would be ironic that their next flagship would remove that feature.

So far the only official piece of information we have is that the Galaxy S9 could pack the latest Samsung Exynos 9810 processor, but if the rumors of an earlier-than-expected release are true, then we won’t have to wait too long to find out more. Until then take it with a grain of salt.
