Official parts and accessories are usually priced higher than third-party options, but there is that added peace of mind knowing that the company that designed your smartphone also designed accessories specifically for it. However we suppose the next best thing could be officially-licensed accessories, which is what Huawei could be going for.

According to reports out of China, word on the street has it that Huawei is planning on launching a series of “Made for Huawei” accessories. It is unclear what this program will entail, such as whether it will be similar to Apple’s “Made For iPhone” program where the company basically endorses third-party products made for iPhones, or if we’re looking Huawei-made accessories for its products.

The report goes on to add that the first “Made for Huawei” accessory that will be launched will be a USB-C to HDMI adapter designed specifically for the Huawei Mate 10 series. We’re not sure what else could be planned, but for those of you who are stickler for official accessories then this could be worth keeping an eye out for.

With Huawei shipping as many as 100 million smartphones in 2017 alone, it looks like this could be a great initiative to either draw in customers or to court more accessories from third-party makers.
