Earlier this month we reported that it was announced that the free-to-play title “Marvel Heroes” would be shutting down at the end of the year. Unfortunately for gamers, it seems that this is no longer the case because in a tweet by the official account, it seems that Marvel Heroes has officially shut down already, a little over a month before what was previously announced.

It is unclear why the game was shut down earlier than what was stated, but with the developers behind the game closing their doors, it seems that they no longer had the resources to maintain the game until the end of the year. So far it seems that many are pretty ticked off by the early closure as some felt that they did not get their money’s worth.

The game was originally released on the PC back in 2013, and it was only earlier this year that it was ported onto the PS4 and Xbox One. This meant that gamers who made in-game purchases on console had less than a year to enjoy their purchases, which is why many had demanded the developers to refund their purchases.

The comments on the tweet are also more or less asking for the same thing, and while nothing official has been announced, we wouldn’t be surprised if frustrated gamers started looking at legal measures in which they will be able to recoup their losses.
