A couple of weeks ago and after what felt like an eternity, Amazon’s Prime Video app was finally launched on the Apple TV. This is a pretty big deal especially when you consider that Amazon’s app was one of the few major video streaming services that wasn’t available on the Apple TV, and turns out it has been a huge hit.

According to a report from BESTAppleTV.com, it seems that Apple has confirmed that the Amazon Prime Video app is the most downloaded app for tvOS of all time. Yup, apparently it’s the most downloaded of all time, not just for the week it launched, or the month, but of all time, suggesting that this is an app that many, many Apple TV owners have been waiting for.

The confirmation reads, “Prime Video has been a hit with Apple TV customers around the world — it had the most first-week downloads of any app in the history of tvOS.” Unfortunately Apple/Amazon did not provide any specific numbers in terms of downloads, so we’re not sure exactly how many times the app has been downloaded, but for it to break the record does say a lot about its popularity.

So far Amazon has released some Prime-exclusive shows on its service in a bid to make it more attractive, like how Netflix has its own exclusive series of shows and movies.
