Over the years, we’ve seen Batman take on all kinds of looks, ranging from his classic costumes, to robotic outfits, so it doesn’t really surprise us to see a Japanese-inspired Batman arrive on the screen. In fact if you love Batman and also love Japanese anime, the trailer above for the upcoming Batman Ninja should make you pretty happy.

Batman Ninja was originally announced a couple of months ago at the New York Comic-Con, and now it looks like we have a proper trailer that we can check out. The anime movie is put together by the likes of story writer Kazuki Nakashima (Kamen Rider Fourze) and character designer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai).

We’re not completely sure what the movie will be about, but from what we can tell, it seems that Batman and his allies have travelled back in time to a feudal Japan where he encounters various enemies whom he used to (and probably still does) do battle with back in Gotham, which includes the likes of the Joker, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, Two-Face, Gorilla Grodd, and more.

We also see the appearance of Batman’s allies such as Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman. It looks fantastically done and if you can’t wait to see it, unfortunately you’ll have to wait until 2018 where it will be released on DVD and Blu-ray.
