We have been hearing about the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie for a while now, but details about the movie such as its story and also when it will be released have eluded us. While the storyline of the movie is still something of a mystery, it seems that at the very least we have a release date.

Universal Pictures has recently confirmed that the movie will be released on the 10th of May, 2019. This means that we have a little over a year of waiting to go. So far what we know about the movie is that it will be a live-action Pokemon movie and will feature Pikachu as one of the lead characters.

Pikachu will be motion-captured and digitally inserted into the movie, and last we heard, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is expected to play the role, although we can’t be sure how that is going to work out. Pikachu for the most part never talks in the game or the anime series, and so hearing him speak with Reynolds’ potentially voicing him will be quite an experience for long-time fans of the franchise.

In any case we guess we’ll have to wait until the movie’s release to see how well it does, but in the meantime anyone else have high hopes for it?
