One of the concerns that smartphone users have regarding future models has to do with the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack. We’ve seen various companies do it, such as Apple and Google, and so far for the most part, Samsung has held out. In fact you might be pleased to learn that the upcoming Galaxy S9 could retain the headphone jack as well.

This is according to a photo uploaded onto Slashleaks by Dimitri12 in which the alleged USB-C flex cable component of the Galaxy S9 was revealed. Assuming the photo is accurate, it looks like the 3.5mm headphone jack is here to stay as far as the Galaxy S9 is concerned, but since this isn’t official, take it with a grain of salt for now.

That being said, we expect that at some point in time Samsung will probably make the switch. After all given that the removal does free up some space, plus USB-C is said to offer better quality audio streaming, those are some of the benefits to dropping the headphone jack. The only problem is that users who don’t have USB-C headphones or Bluetooth headsets are left hanging.

However speaking of Bluetooth headphones, we have heard rumors that Samsung could bundle Bluetooth AKG headphones, suggesting that maybe this could help make up for a lack of a headphone jack. Either way we’ll have to wait and see, but with a launch rumored to take place in February/March 2018, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
