Netflix Appears To Be Testing Out A New UI For Android

What might have seemed like good UI design last year might not necessarily be good UI design this year. This is because the needs of users constantly shift, and in turn the way users interact with UI changes as well, like mobile websites designed for feature phones versus those designed for smartphones.

That being said, there is good news for those who are starting to feel that Netflix’s Android UI is getting a bit dated. In a post on Reddit by MyFishDrownedItself (via XDA Developers), it seems that Netflix is testing out a new UI that they’ll be applying to Android (no word on whether iOS will get a similar redesign).

As you can see in the screenshots above, the image to the left is the old/current Netflix UI, and the one on the right is the newer UI. At first glance it doesn’t seem like much has changed, until you look at the bottom of the app where it shows various tabs that helps users navigate the app and shows better.

This is versus from before in which users had to tap the menu button on the top left corner to access the settings and other aspects of the menu. The UI change seems to be server-side enabled which means that no change needs to be done on your part. No word on when it will be released, but Netflix users might want to keep an eye out for it.
