Microsoft’s most powerful gaming console is now capable of streaming 4K video from YouTube. The YouTube for Xbox One X app has been updated with support for 4K video streaming. That’s not all, the app will also enable Xbox One X owners to stream HDR video. However, support for HDR video will be added to the app in the near future.

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One X can now finally stream 4K video from YouTube as the official app has been updated with support for the standard. The company added that HDR support will be present as well but it’s not live right now. Microsoft says that it is “coming soon.”

The Xbox One S isn’t as powerful as the Xbox One X but it does have the ability to run 4K content. Microsoft has revealed that YouTube for Xbox One S will receive support for both 4K and HDR as well but this won’t happen immediately. Microsoft has said that it’s going to provide more information about this “soon.”

Xbox One X owners can take advantage of this right away, though. The official YouTube app for the console is now capable of playing 4K resolution videos and supports 60fps playback.
