[CES 2018] When you think of drones, you might think of huge devices that you’ll need a suitcase for. However we have seen drones that are small and portable, and at CES this week, AEE Aviation Technology has unveiled a new drone called the SELFLY which is a drone that’s small enough to fit inside of a smartphone case.

Basically the SELFLY is a drone that has been embedded inside of a smartphone case, meaning that as long as you have your phone on you, the drone will be with you as well, which means that being able to grab aerials photos and videos on the fly is possible. The drone is capable of Full HD 1080p video capture, but unfortunately it has a rather limited flight time of four minutes and will require a recharge of 30 minutes before it is good to go again.

According to Mike Kahn, AEE’s Chief Marketing Officer, “With a touch of a button, AEE SELFLY springs to life and flies a mission to capture your selfies from high above, from tight spaces or from a distance, as never possible before. It gives the user options and angles beyond the arm’s length of a selfie stick and is much more convenient than a drone. As a case to your smartphone, AEE SELFLY will always be with you to capture amazing selfies.”

As for pricing, the SELFLY is priced at $130 and is expected to begin shipping in the first quarter of 2018, so do keep an eye out for it if it’s something you might be interested in.
