Last year Microsoft announced Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. The game was originally intended for a release in 2017, but in the later part of the year, Microsoft announced that the game would now be delayed until 2018. The good news is that despite the delay, gamers won’t have to wait much longer to play it.

According to Microsoft’s latest announcement, the game will now be released on the 20th of February, 2018 which means that gamers will only have to wait one more month. Microsoft writes, “It was important for the team to treat the Age of Empires franchise with the respect it deserves, so we took the time we needed to get features like attack-move and the improved minimap exactly right, and even added things like an in-game tech tree (how did we survive 1997 without that?) that we hope fans will love.”

For those wondering what the Definitive Edition copy of Age of Empires entails, this is basically a remastering of the original Age of Empires game that was released back in 1997. It will feature completely new assets that will support 4K resolutions, and it will also feature online play via Xbox Live (in addition to LAN play).

There will also be a re-recording of the game’s soundtrack with a brand new orchestral score, along with campaign narration for every mission. All of this can be had for a price of $20, so for fans wanting to relive the game, mark your calendars for the 20th of February.
