Recently you might have heard that there is a bug out there that affects Apple’s iPhones, where if you receive a message with a particular link, it could cause your iPhone to crash. However the good news is that Apple is on top of it already and according to a report from BuzzFeed News, the company has promised that a fix will be released next week.

For those hearing about this for the first time, basically this bug involves a link, where upon receiving the link, the user’s iPhone could end up crashing. The worst part about this bug is that the link doesn’t even need to be clicked, and all the person has to do is open the text message in the Messages app containing the link and it will affect them already.

This has to do with the link preview feature in Messages that we guess triggers the bug, and so far the only way to be rid of it is to actually delete the message thread that contains the link. For those with long message threads spanning months/years, this would be kind of a pity to delete them all, but like we said this is the only fix at the moment.

Alternatively we suppose if you do receive the link but want to keep the thread, then you’ll have to wait until next week when Apple releases the fix, assuming that it works, of course.
