In case Dell’s laptop announcements at CES wasn’t enough for you, or if you were perhaps in the market for something different, then you might be interested to learn that Dell has recently announced the Chromebook 5000 series. In case the name wasn’t already a dead giveaway, these are a series of Chromebook laptops.

According to Dell, “To complement our comprehensive offerings of collaborative, mobile and data-driven solutions, we are thrilled to announce the new Dell Chromebook 5000 series . These Dell Chromebooks (5190) are available in 11-inch clamshell or 2-in-1 convertible form factors, and deliver improved performance, more than 13 hours of battery life, the ultimate in durability for students and advanced features tailor-made for the classroom environment.”

As Dell mentions, the first laptop in the series will be the Chromebook 5190. This laptop has been designed to be used by students in the classroom, which also means that Dell has designed it to be rugged to withstand the daily rigors of classroom use. This means that it will come with reinforced hinges, spill-resistant keyboards, and a chassis that has been designed to withstand drops.

In terms of pricing, Dell will begin selling the Chromebook 5190 in February where it is priced starting at $289.
