You can already use your bitcoin to purchase a variety of different products online. The digital currency is gradually being accepted by more online retailers and services. If you’re sitting on some bitcoin and are feeling hungry, why not order some fried chicken? KFC Canada recently ran a promotion in which it allowed people to pay for a bucket of fried chicken using bitcoin.

KFC Canada kicked off its “Bitcoin Bucket” promotion on Facebook by saying that “Sure, we don’t know exactly what Bitcoins are, or how they work, but that shouldn’t come between you and some finger lickin’ good chicken.”

The post had a live tracker of bitcoin’s value superimposed on a bucket of chicken to let customers know just how much they would have to pay for that bucket. It would cost them the equivalent of $20 in the digital currency for a bucket of 10 chicken tenders, a side dish, waffle fries, gravy, and two dips.

The post directed customers to a digital ordering hub from where they could make the payment in bitcoin through the BitPay service provider. The actual cost for customers would have been $40 because of BitPay’s $20 transaction fee.

KFC Canada temporarily sold out of the deal on Friday but brought it back again later on in the day. While it is unusual and quirky, it is a legitimate way to purchase KFC,” confirmed a spokesperson for the company.
