[CES 2018] So far for the most part, the Razer Phone has received some pretty great reviews (save for some complaints regarding its camera quality). It seems like it is truly a phone designed for entertainment, and if you do use it from time to time to stream Netflix, you’ll be pleased to learn of an upcoming update.

Announced at CES, Razer has announced that Netflix on the Razer Phone will be getting HDR and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound support. This means that your shows on Netflix will not only look better, especially on that 120Hz display, but will potentially sound better too, although we’d probably recommend you invest in a pair of decent headphones if you really want to take advantage of the technology.

According to Min-Liang Tan, Razer’s co-founder and CEO, “We engineered the Razer Phone to handle HDR video and sound like no other phone on the market. We are incredibly excited to deliver Netflix entertainment on a smartphone like never before, enabling us to take full measure of the Razer Phone’s HDR10-enabled display and dual-firing, front-facing Dolby-optimized speakers and THX-certified headphone connectivity.”

The update is scheduled for a release later this month where it will also include a home screen widget for quick access to Netflix, but note that users will require a subscription to Netflix will be required in order to access its content.
