HTC started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the HTC U11 late last year. The company kicked things off by releasing said update for the unlocked handset first. Carrier-locked units normally get the update a couple of months after their unlocked counterparts. The wait is finally over for Sprint HTC U11 owners as the carrier is going to start rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo on its network today.

The confirmation comes from none other than HTC’s Mo Versi who confirmed on Twitter that the company has received technical approval from Sprint for the HTC U11 Oreo update. He also mentioned that the rollout is going to begin today.

HTC U11 owners on Sprint should keep an eye out for an over-the-air update notification today. It should not be long before the update goes live in all regions of the United States. They will receive a notification on their handset informing them that a firmware update is available for download.

The Sprint HTC U11 Oreo update brings all of the features and improvements that come part and parcel of Android 8.0. The HTC U11 isn’t the only device from the Taiwanese company that has received this update. HTC recently started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the HTC 10 as well, at least the unlocked variants.
