The other day in an APK teardown of the YouTube app for Android, it was discovered that Google was toying with the idea of introducing a dark theme to the app. With the desktop version of YouTube getting a dark theme, and other mobile apps also getting similar themes as well, this move did not come as a surprise.

However what about the iOS version of the app? The good news is that Google has not forgotten about iOS users because according to a post on Reddit by Redditor OustedHoChiMinh, it appears that YouTube for iOS also has a dark theme that is being tested. This feature seems to be a server-side enabled feature, meaning that iOS users don’t have to do anything to check it out.

It is unclear as to how widespread it might be as not all users are seeing the option. Like we said, YouTube could simply be testing the feature out which is why it isn’t widely available to all users yet. In any case we guess this is just something that users will have to wait for it to eventually be made available to them, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for when it does and will update you guys accordingly.
