Amazon has announced that its Rewards Visa cardmembers will be receiving rewards for shopping at Whole Foods. These rewards will be the same as if they were to shop on Amazon, which means that eligible Prime members will receive a flat 5% bonus on all purchases made at Whole Foods.
Note that the 5% bonus is only for Prime members, and for everyone else it will be at 3%, so clearly this is Amazon trying to encourage customers to sign up for Prime membership, and for Prime customers to start shopping more at Whole Foods. If anything this does make it a compelling reason to sign up for Prime, because in addition to these perks, a Prime subscription will also give users access to a bunch of different services, free shipping, and more.
According to John Mackey, Whole Foods Market co-founder and CEO, “We are excited to launch the Amazon Rewards Visa Card in our stores, offering benefits to our customers on all of their purchases at Whole Foods Market.”
