We’re not sure if it was by design, by the Apple Watch has saved many a life ever since it was released, with its heart-rate monitoring features alerting wearers to potential heart problems. It also comes with SOS features, which has helped to save the life of a woman and her baby following a car accident involving a drunk driver.

In a report from Shape, Kacie Anderson, the woman in question was in her car at a red light with her 9-month old baby when a drunk driver ran into them. She tried to reach for her phone to call 911 following the collision, but was unable to reach it, but realized that she had her Apple Watch on her in which she then commanded it to call 911.

Speaking to Shape, Anderson said, “The moment he hit us everything inside the car went airborne. My face took a horrible blow to the steering wheel, headrest, back to the steering wheel, and then to the window.  I blacked out for about a minute and could not see. My eyes were wide open but all I saw was black. My hands flew around to feel for my phone and then I realized I had my watch on and commanded it to call 911.”

Thankfully Anderson’s son escaped the crash with some bruises and scrapes, while Anderson’s injuries were more severe and is currently seeking treatment.
