It has been a while since we have seen a new BlackBerry-branded handset. The Canadian company isn’t making smartphones itself these days, it has licensed its brand name to other companies who now make BlackBerry devices, much like Nokia has licensed its brand name to HMD Global. BlackBerry Mobile licensee Optiemus is said to be working on a new BlackBerry-branded handset codenamed “Ghost.” A leaked render of the device reveals that it may have a bezel-less display.

Bezel-less smartphones are increasingly becoming common and it was clear in 2017 that this is where the industry was headed. This is why it’s not surprising to see licensee’s like Optiemus go this way as well for their future devices.

The render was posted on Twitter by famed leakster @evleaks who revealed that this device, the BlackBerry Ghost, is a bezel-less premium Android smartphone from Optiemus that’s “coming soon to India.”

The render shows us that this is going to be a very sleek device with a design that you would expect from a bezel-less smartphone. The device doesn’t seem to have a front-facing fingerprint sensor which suggests that it may have been moved to the back.

No further information about this handset has been revealed at this point in time so it’s unclear what kind of specs it’s going to have and when it’s going to be launched. It’s also unclear if this device is going to be released in markets outside India.
