CBS had promised last year that it would launch its very own sports news network and it has followed through today with the launch of the CBS Sports HQ. The new streaming service will provide viewers with streaming coverage of news, highlights, and analysis for free around the clock online and through connected devices. CBS Sports HQ is also going to be available within the company’s CBS All Access over-the-top online TV streaming service.

CBS wanted to replicate the success it found with its CBSN streaming news network that was launched in 2014 with this sports news network. CBSN surged to 287 million streams last year which was a 17 percent improvement compared to 2016.

Much like CBSN, CBS Sports HQ is going to be available as a free streaming network 24 hours a day. It’s going to be accessible via a wide range of devices which include smartphones and tablets, connected TV streaming devices, the CBS Sports app, and online via CBSSports.com/live. Subscribers of CBS All Access will be able to stream CBS Sports HQ from within the service itself.

The content will include a combination of live news and reporting with game previews, post-game analysis, projects, highlights, statistical information, and more. It’s also going to offer viewers a DVR-like feature which will let them go back and watch segments that have been previously recorded.
