If you’re looking forward to seeing more Destiny 2 content this year, you’ll be pleased to learn that during Activision Blizzard’s latest investor’s call, they confirmed that Destiny 2 will be getting a “major expansion” later this year, although they stopped short of telling us exactly what it will be about.

Destiny 2 got its first expansion back in 2017 with Curse of Osiris, but apparently players weren’t too thrilled with the game’s developer Bungie, claiming that the studio had a lack of communication with its players. To remedy this Bungie then published a roadmap of Destiny 2 related content for the next few months, so the announcement of this “major expansion” comes as a bit of a surprise, although a good one.

As to what the expansion will entail is anyone’s guess, but presumably it will be on a larger scale similar to that of The Taken Thing expansion introduced in the original Destiny title. According to Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, “We have a great expansion coming in May, and a major expansion coming at the end of the year, and those events have always been opportunities to re-engage our communities and win back people who have churned out.”

We expect more details will be revealed towards the later part of the year, so check back with us then for more updates on what this “major expansion” could be about.
