Samsung Resumes Android 8.0 Oreo Update For Galaxy S8, S8+

Earlier this month and to the delight of many users, Samsung finally released the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+. This was following months of beta testing, so like we said, many users were probably pleased by this, but for some reason a week later, Samsung halted the rollout of the update.

Samsung later confirmed the halt of the update’s rollout, which was apparently due to a “major problem” with the software, but declined to elaborate. However the good news is that according to a report from SamMobile, it looks like the update has resumed as Samsung has started pushing it out to Galaxy S8 and S8+ users OTA.

It seems that this update will be for all Galaxy S8 and S8+ handsets, even those who have previously updated (presumably with a fix for the “major problem” that was referenced earlier). This will weigh in around 530MB for those who have already updated, and slightly more for those who haven’t.

As with all updates, it looks like it will be rolled out in phases where it has been reported that users in Germany are receiving it first, and presumably it should eventually find its way to other markets in the near future, so hang tight if you haven’t received yours yet.
