With Game of Thrones officially coming to an end in 2019, what will the show’s creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, be up to next? We know that there are talks about spin-offs, but whether they will be involved is a different story. However what we do know is that their next project will involve Star Wars.

Disney has recently announced that Benioff and Weiss have been tapped to write a new series of Star Wars films. However these movies won’t be part of the new main trilogy that director Rian Johnson has been hired to make, but it will instead exist as its own standalone series, who details at this point in time are a bit scarce.

In a statement made by Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, “David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today. Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”

There is no word on when these movies will be released either, but Benioff and Weiss stated that they will only begin working on it once Game of Thrones has been completed, which means in 2019 at the earliest. “In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since. We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ is complete.”
