Toys back in the day were relatively simple and low-tech, but they were still incredibly fun all the same. However these days toys are becoming more hi-tech, and Hasbro’s latest Iron Man helmet is a good example, allowing kids to experience what it might be like to be Iron Man thanks to the use of augmented reality (AR).

As you can see in the photo above, the helmet is pretty standard fare, but what makes it special is the inclusion of a removable sleeve that lets users slot in a smartphone, similar to how you would use a Google Cardboard headset. There will also be a companion app that when combined with the helmet, will make it seem like you’re inside Iron Man’s suit complete with a HUD.

This will of course be a game of sorts where together with an Iron Man gauntlet strapped to your hand, you can aim at the bad guys and fire away. This is made more realistic thanks to the addition of AR tags that helps the app track your hand’s movements. Interestingly enough it seems that Hasbro will not include in-app purchases, meaning that parents don’t need to worry about their kids accidentally going on a shopping spree with their credit cards.

The release of the headset is in conjunction with the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movie which is currently slated for a release on the 25th of April, 2018.
