Instagram is adding the ability to post text-only pages to Stories with a new feature called “Type” mode. The feature enables users to share anything that’s on your mind with creative text styles and backgrounds. This eliminates the need to post a video or photo just to get a story going, users can now post stories that have these text-only pages and no photos or videos. The Facebook-owned company says that this feature will let users turn their most random thoughts “into something colorful and expressive.”

Instagram users will now see Type next to Normal under the record button when they open the camera. They can tap on Type and write whatever they want to and then play with different styles to tweak the look and feel. They can also select background colors, highlight words and phrases. It’s even possible to add a background photo.

The new text styles that have been introduced with this mode will also be available to users when they’re adding text to any photo or video. Since this is part and parcel of the Stories feature, like everything else shared to Stories, these text-only pages will also disappear from the app after 24 hours.

The Type mode is rolling out as part of Instagram version 30 for iOS and Android, users can head over to the App Store and Google Play Store right now and download the app.
