Recently it was discovered that a single character from the Telugu language when sent in iOS can cause the iPhone to crash. Now some had assumed that the fix for this problem would arrive in iOS 11.3, but Apple reassured users that it would arrive much sooner, and sure enough it has.

Apple has released iOS 11.2.6 which will fix the iPhone crashing character bug. This is applicable across all devices running on iOS 11, and also applies to the Apple TV, Apple Watch, and also Mac computers, all of which have received similar updates that should prevent the bug from happening again. It also addresses an issue that causes third-party apps to connect to external accessories.

Interestingly enough this is actually not the first time that we’re learning about text message bugs that could cause iOS devices to crash. We’re not sure why they are so prevalent in iOS as it is rather unfortunate. Bugs and issues within iOS and macOS are also becoming increasingly common these days, which has led to some to criticize Apple’s current leadership who they feel are starting to neglect the details.

This has led to rumors that claim that iOS 12 will not come with many new features, but will instead focus on improving the overall quality and stability of the software.
