When Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop last year, it was priced starting at $999 which isn’t completely unaffordable. However admittedly there are cheaper laptops out there for those not too fussed about form factor and design, but now it looks like Microsoft wants to make their Surface Laptops more affordable.

The company has recently launched a new entry-level Surface Laptop where instead of being priced at $999, it will now be priced starting at $799 which makes it $200 cheaper. However obviously there will be some “sacrifices” made in order to get it cheaper, where instead of it being powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, the new entry-level model will pack an Intel Core M3 CPU instead.

It will also be accompanied by 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, Intel’s HD Graphics 615, but for the most part it isn’t too drastically different. What’s interesting though is that as pointed out by Windows Central, the new entry-level Surface Laptop essentially puts it along the same lines as the Surface Pro in terms of pricing, minus the keyboard and pen, so in a way the Surface Laptop could now be a more desirable option.

That being said, the new entry-level Surface Laptop is currently only available in the US and is available for purchase via Microsoft’s Online Store.
