Amazon has been investing a lot of money into its original productions recently and the company has reportedly added another big project to the pipeline. According to reports, a new Conan the Barbarian TV series is being developed by Amazon. The new series will reportedly retell the character’s story by returning to Conan’s literary origins, it’s going to be based on the books by Robert E. Howard.

This isn’t the first time that this character is being brought to the screen. Two animated TV series have been released over the years and there was also a short-lived 1997 syndicated action-adventure series. Arnold Schwarzenegger famously played Conan the Barbarian on the big screen.

The new series will see Conan driven out of his tribal homelands and wandering civilization to find his place in a world that regards him as a savage.

The project is from Colony co-creator Ryan Condal with Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik coming on as an executive producer as well. The Handmaid’s Tale executive producer Warren Littlefield is attached to the project as well.

It’s unclear right now when this new Conan the Barbarian series is going to be released and who is going to play the lead character. This suggests that it’s going to be a while before this new series comes out so fans of the character will have to wait for a bit.
