Word on the street has it that Nikon has a new mirrorless camera in the works, which following the apparent discontinuation of the Nikon 1 V3 makes sense. However if you were hoping that Nikon might have something to show at the upcoming CP+ photography event, then prepare to be disappointed.

The folks at Nikon Rumors have reached out to multiple sources asking about whether Nikon will have anything to show off at the event, but it seems that none of their sources have heard anything regarding a new Nikon mirrorless camera. We suppose if anything this also explains the lack of leaks, save for the bits and pieces that we’ve heard about so far.

A glimmer of hope is that Nikon could share that they are working on something, similar to what the company did when they announced that they were working on the Nikon D850 several months ahead of the official reveal. However as Nikon Rumors points out, based on past experience, the lack of rumors certainly does seem hint that maybe we won’t be getting any announcements just yet.

That being said, Nikon’s next mirrorless is said to be a huge change from what they’ve offered so far, and could possibly be of the full-frame variety, so it is understandable if Nikon wants to take their time launching it.
