If you’re not a fan of the Apple TV, not to worry because Google has Android TV and several OEMs have come up with their own Android TV boxes, with NVIDIA being one of them with the Shield TV device. In fact if you own the Shield TV, you’ll be pleased to learn that NVIDIA has recently pushed out an update for it that brings about several new features.

Now last year an update for the device introduced Google Assistant to the device, and with the latest update that bumps it up to version 6.3, NVIDIA has introduced commercial-free recording if you are using the Plex DVR. There will also be support for picture-in-picture, 360-degree video support with VLC, SiriusXM apps, Cartoon Network, VH1, and more.

Also what’s interesting and potentially useful about the latest update is that if you own a Nest Cam, the Shield TV will now support watching live streams of the security camera. You can even launch the feature through the use of Google Assistant by pressing down on the remote and asking it to show you the cameras in any room that the Nest Cam is in.

In addition to the features, the update will also bring about various security updates, improved Bluetooth/wireless performance, and more. The update should already be live so do keep an eye out for it if you haven’t updated already.
