Back in March last year, it was announced that there would be a movie adaptation of Square Enix’s “Sleeping Dogs” game. The movie would be starring actor Donnie Yen (Star Wars, Ip Man, xXx: Return of Xander Cage) and given Yen’s role in various action flicks in Hong Kong, it seemed like a match made in heaven.

However following the announcement we haven’t heard much about the movie since, which naturally led to some speculating that perhaps the movie had been cancelled, put on hold, and so on. The good news is that neither of those things have happened because in a post on Instagram, Yen confirmed that the movie is still happening.

In a caption accompanying a series of photos, Yen writes, “Sometimes great things take a bit of time. Sleeping Dog is motion, you guys ready for this?” The photos that were included in his post appear to be stills from the various movies that Yen starred in, while comparing them to various scenes from the game, giving us a very basic idea of what we could expect.

Unfortunately Yen did not provide us a date as to when the movie will be released, so we guess we’ll just have to be patient about it.
