When Snap launched the redesign of its app, instead of being met with applause, Snap found themselves faced with a ton of resistance from its users, many of whom have gone on to sign a petition demanding that the company bring back the old design. Now Snap has officially responded to the petition on the Change.org website.

Snap has acknowledged the petition but it seems that they have no plans to bring back the old design. Instead according to the company, “Beginning soon on iOS, and with Android in the coming weeks, we are introducing tabs in Friends and Discover, which will make it easier to find the Stories that you want, when you want them. Once you receive the update, you’ll be able to sort things like Stories, Group Chats, and Subscriptions, allowing you to further customize your own experience on the app.”

The company also explained the reason behind the new design, saying that, “By putting everything from your friends in one place, our goal was to make it easier to connect with the people you care about most.” Whether or not its users agree that it is “easier” is debatable, but safe to say that not many are thrilled by it.

That being said Snap’s response isn’t surprising. The company’s CEO Evan Spiegel made some statements the other day in which he defended the new design, and also suggested that it was here to stay. In the meantime for those who wish to revert to the old design, there are some workarounds for iOS and Android users.
