Announced back in 2016 with a rather lengthy trailer, Sony’s upcoming The Last of Us 2 is highly-anticipated by gamers following the success of the first game. However Sony and Naughty Dog have been rather cagey regarding the release of the game, where we had previously heard that it might be released in 2019.

However there is a chance that it could be sooner than that, at least according to a report which cites a post on Sony Sweden’s Facebook page where apparently it was hinted that the game could be released this year. The post has since been removed but according to the report, the post mentioned that the game will be released in 2018 alongside Ghost of Tsushima.

Now it is possible that the post was removed because the dates were wrong, or that Sony might have let the cat out of the bag earlier than expected. Either way it should be taken with a grain of salt and fans of the franchise should probably not get their hopes up just yet, at least not until we get an official confirmation.

That being said, we have seen how Sony has gotten release dates wrong/mixed up in the past, such as how God of War was listed as being released in March on the PlayStation Store, only for that to be later changed to April. In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding the game’s release date.
