The Surge, a sci-fi game, was released by developer Deck13 and publisher Focus Home Interactive in May last year. The game was launched to mixed reviews and many felt that while it was off to a good start, there was room for improvement. Those who thought about this title will be happy to find out that there may be hope yet for fundamental improvements because the developer and publisher have now confirmed that they’re working on a new title aptly called The Surge 2.

Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive have confirmed today that they’re teamed up to create The Surge 2. They’ve also confirmed that this title will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One.

The Surge 2 is going to retain the creative limb targeting system of the original title as well as the detailed progression system but all of these core features will receive improvements. They’ve not yet detailed what these improvements are going to be. The new title will have a new environment, it won’t be based in the CREO factory like the first title, The Surge 2 will play out in a desolate city.

The level design of this title will be larger and more ambitious, according to the developer, and there will be new weapons, abilities, implants, enemies, drones, bosses, and more. No further details have been revealed at this point in time, no screenshots have been released as yet.

The Surge 2 will be released for the aforementioned platforms at some point next year.
