With series like Battlefield and Call of Duty, companies like EA and Activision tend to spread the work around, where development studios take turn developing the titles. This year’s Call of Duty it seems will be developed byh Treyarch, as confirmed by Activision’s President and Chief Operating Officer Coddy Johnson.

He was quoted as saying, “This fall, we plan to continue to exceed fans’ expectations with a new release from Treyarch — the creators of Black Ops, the most successful subfranchise in Call of Duty history — and we cannot wait to share more about that with you on future calls.” This was also confirmed by the Treyarch Studios Twitter account in which they stated that they “can’t wait to share more”.

Unfortunately apart from confirming that they will be developing the title, not much else is known about what Call of Duty title we will be getting this year. Rumors have suggested that this year’s Call of Duty will be Black Ops 4 and given that Treyarch have been behind all the previous Black Ops releases, it’s not a stretch to think that it might be true.

It has also been rumored that this year’s Call of Duty could also find its way onto the Nintendo Switch, which would be a nice change of pace and could potentially attract more gamers onto the platform.
