Microsoft launched its Windows Insider Program back in 2014 to enable the company to test new features, improvements, and bug fixes with a dedicated group of users and enthusiasts who want to provide it with feedback. The program has since grown to include more than 10 million people across the globe. Microsoft has been working on gradually improving the program even further and the company has now said that the Windows Insider Program will go through an evolution over the next two years.
Microsoft regularly releases new builds of Windows 10 to members of the Insiders Program who then put the build through its paces and provide valuable feedback to Microsoft which the company uses to improve the overall software before it’s released to the public.
Microsoft now wants to improve the Windows Insider Program itself. Dona Sarkar, the head of Microsoft’s Insider Program, has said that the company is working on the details of a new roadmap for the program that’s called “WIP 2020.” This will see several new changes being made to the program over the next two years.
“We’re thinking about how we would build the Insider Program that would make us want to join it if we weren’t fans or working at Microsoft,” said Sarkar. Jeremiah Marble, Windows Insider Program Architect, said that the roadmap is basically an “evolution of the Insider Program” instead of a complete overhaul.
He mentions that this is also the collection of things that the team has wanted to do with this program but hasn’t done as yet. “It includes things we know we have to do, along with suggestions and top requests from Insiders,” Marble added.
