Marvel’s Doctor Strange was yet another hit movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and you would think that the company would be looking to launch a sequel. After all Black Panther’s sequel has already been confirmed, so what’s the deal with Doctor Strange 2? As it turns out even the movie’s star is unsure.Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, actor Benedict Cumberbatch revealed that he’s just as clueless as everyone else when it comes to the sequel. When asked when the sequel might begin filming, Cumberbatch replied by saying, “Not at the moment, no. The masterplan is continually in flux, so it would be out of order for me to speculate.”
That isn’t to say that there won’t be a sequel because back in 2017, Marvel boss Kevin Feige revealed that they are interested in a sequel but it might be a while before that happens. Speaking to MovieWeb, Feige said, “Certainly, we would love to tell more about the Strange story [in a sequel]. Yes. It won’t be for a while. Our focus is on the next six movies. Finishing the first three phases, getting Untitled Avengers out into the world on May 19th before publicly focusing on anything else.”
That being said, Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange character will be returning to the big screen come 27th of April where he will be part of the Avengers: Infinity War ensemble.
