Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was apparently not aware that his companies had Facebook pages. You may have heard about the #deletefacebook challenge on Twitter that was started in response to the data leak controversy that has ensnared the world’s largest social media network. One of Musk’s followers tweeted at him to delete the pages and they were down within 20 minutes.

Musk responded to a tweet calling on him to delete the official Elon Musk, Tesla, and SpaceX Facebook pages in support of the #deletefacebook movement. His initial response was that he wasn’t aware that the pages existed and then had them all taken down merely 20 minutes after he seemed to have come to know of their existence.

It’s not like these were dormant pages to begin with. The Tesla and SpaceX pages had more than 2.6 million Likes and Follows each prior to being taken down with engagement rates that would make many page owners blue with envy. He didn’t stop there. The Facebook page for Solar City, a company owned by Tesla, has been taken down as well.

Even though the Facebook Pages have been taken down, SpaceX, Tesla, and Musk himself maintain a presence on Instagram which is owned by Facebook. It remains to be seen whether or not they’ll give up on this platform as well.
